What you get
Already have a fibre line? Keep the line and change provider. No new cable, no second installation, and we confirm it with the network before anything changes.
Your line stays where it is
The cable into your home does not change. No trenching, no drilling, no second installation.
Same networks, new provider
Openserve, Vumatel, MFN, Frogfoot and Octotel all carry Vodacom. Your line almost certainly already can.
Uncapped and unshaped
No throttling and no fair usage limits, on every speed.
Free Wi-Fi router included
Vodacom S90 Ultra, with an LTE sim slot for automatic failover if the fibre goes down.
We check before you commit
We confirm with the network what your line can take, and what the change involves, before you decide.
One number afterwards
Orders, billing, speed upgrades and faults all go to the same local person.
What switching actually means
Fibre in South Africa is open access. The line into your home belongs to the network operator that built it, and that operator does not sell you internet. Your provider does, over their line. Openserve, Vumatel, MFN, Frogfoot and Octotel all carry Vodacom, so on most lines changing to Vodacom is a change of provider on the line you already have, not a new installation.
This is the part most people do not know. When the internet is slow, the natural conclusion is that the area is slow or the line is old. Usually the line is neither: it is the package on it, or the provider selling it.
What changes, and what does not
| Stays the same | Changes | |
|---|---|---|
| The line | The same cable, the same network operator | Nothing |
| Installation | No new trenching or drilling | Nothing to install |
| Your router | A Vodacom S90 Ultra is included | |
| Your speed | Whatever you choose, up to 1Gbps where the line allows | |
| Your bill | Comes from Vodacom | |
| Who you call | Xeevo, one number, for anything |
Before you switch
Two things are worth knowing before anything moves.
- Your current provider needs notice. Most ask for a period of notice, often a calendar month, and it is set out in the agreement you signed with them. Nobody else can waive it, so it is the thing that usually sets the date.
- Your line has to be active. A line that has been dormant for a while may need the network to bring it back. We check that before you commit, rather than after.
We do not ask you to cancel anything first. Tell us you already have fibre, and we confirm with the network what your line can carry and what the change involves, then you decide.
If you do not have a line yet
Nothing above applies to a home with no fibre. If your street has fibre but your property does not, a standard installation takes about two to three weeks. If a line has to be run to the property, it is longer. Either way the check is the same one: give us the address and we will tell you which of the three cases you are in.
Why switch through Xeevo?
